ComBa - Sustainable liquid barriers for recyclable packaging.
Paper must be finished with a special coating in order to ensure protection from water, greases, oils and other physical influences. For this purpose on request THIMM can supply a wide range of different paper types which can be finished with a water-based and PFAS-free varnish called ComBa.

PFAS-free coatings for safe and sustainable packaging
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), often referred to as 'forever chemicals', have increasingly become the focus of attention due to their persistence in the environment and potential health risks. Our ComBa liners are completely free of PFAS while still providing excellent barrier properties against water, grease and acids. By not using PFAS in our coatings, we ensure that your packaging is not only functional, but also environmentally and health friendly.
Paper instead of plastic – sustainable and recyclable coatings
The use of plastic packaging, film coatings and other environmentally harmful packaging materials are now consigned to yesterday. ComBa Liner is a sustainable and recyclable alternative. THIMM’s coated papers are both FSC-certified and PFAS-free. Packaging consisting of ComBa Liner can also be safely fed back into the recycled paper cycle once it is completely empty.

The grammages of the coated papers vary depending on the application and intended use. A coating can be applied to brown and white paper and standardised corrugated cardboard base papers are common. The barrier effect of ComBa® Liner can be produced with various paper grammages. The coated papers can be produced in widths of 2.50 metres and therefore have the ideal requirements for use in packaging production.
